DAV PG College is the oldest and prestigious post graduate college in Dehradun was established in 1948 affiliated to HNB Garhwal University Srinagar.
Most of the Dehradun students take admission in this college for undergraduate and postgraduate courses it offered in various fields.
History:
The year 1892 witnessed the transfer of an Arya Samaj evening school from Meerut to the dale of Dehradun. That sapling grew and developed as D.A.V School. Gradually growing, extending its branches slowly towards sunshine, it turned as Dayanand Anglovedic Post Graduate College, Dehradun with the help of people like the munificent Thakur Puran Singh Negi who donated his entire immovable property to the educational institute.
It nurtured well on the principles laid by Swami Dayanand and was also influenced by Anglo Education System. It has now emergrd as one of the most famous premier institution of Northern India after Independence and the biggest college of Uttaranchal State having all the five faculties and twenty one disciplines.
Initially, it was managed by the eminent educationist and reformer the Hon. Late Brijendra Swaroop. after him it got the patronage of Hon. Virendra Swaroop, Chairman of Legislative Council (U. P.), and now is under the able supervision and kind control of Hon.

Note
1. The following subjects cannot be taken simultaneously: Maths and Music, History and Music, Political Science and Drawing & Painting, Psychology and Education, Geography and Music, Economics and Music, Geography and History.
2. In the following subject groups only two subjects of a group can be selected. Psychology/ Education, Geography/ Political Science, History/ Music, Sanskrit/ Sociology, Psychology/ Education, Sanskrit/ Hindi, History/ Music, Geography/ Economics, Sanskrit/ Geography, English Literature
3. Only two practical subjects as maximum are allowed.
4. Out of the three literatures, Hindi, English & Sanskrit, only two can be selected
5. Statistics cannot be selected without Maths.
6. Students of B. A. first year can select Geography, Drawing & Painting, Psychology, Music etc. only if they had these subjects in the qualifying exam.
