Santaura Devi Temple,dehradun

Santaura Devi Temple is situated at a distance of 16 kilometres from Dehradun, in Santaur Garh, this temple is very popular amongst devotees.

It is very near to village Harrawala(11 kilometers from Dehradun.), Dehradun road,Doiwala.


As per the sayings, Santaura Devi and her brother, on realising that they cannot withstand the might of their enemies threw their weapons and prayed to god.
Their prayers were answered and they were transformed to stone images. Saturdays are marked as the day when the goddess and her brother were transformed into stone.

Santaura Devi Temple is visited by huge number of devotees on Sundays and the main offering is 'Gud' jaggery made of sugarcane syrup.

This temple is spread in 4.5 acres of land and has one Dharamshala where Hindu saints stays and meditate for free.

This temple is of ancient time and it is beleive that it belongs to the Ramayana period.

Aarti/Prayer Timings:

6:00 am and 8:00 pm

Open on all days.

Traditional/Historical Significance: Lakshman, brother of Lord Rama has meditated here to absolve himself from the sin of killing a Brahmin.
