The Great Stupa in Og Min Ogyen Mindrolling Monastery in Dehradun, India, is 185 feet tall and 100 square feet in width. Stupa is a magnificent example of buddhist art and architecture.
The stupa is surrounded by a 2-acre landscaped garden.This great structure is one of its kinds in Dehradun. Situated in Clement Town, via Saharanpur Road.
The structure was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama on 28th of October, 2002. The stupa contains four kinds of relics, numerous dharanis and various old and sacred statues in the form of wisdom deities.
It was constructed for the purpose of spreading the doctrine of Shakyamuni Buddha. This doctrine forms the basis of happiness and benefit. Its purpose is also to dispel degenerations like sickness, warfare, turmoil, conflict, famine, earthquakes, horrors etc.

On the facade of the stupa Maitreya, the future Buddha, has been beautifully painted. Descending the steps is the present Buddha, the Buddha Shakyamuni.
On the several floors inside the stupa are shrine rooms with elaborate murals excuted in the finest tradition of Tibetan Buddhist art. Sacred relics have also been placed in the stupa. Constructed to benefit all beings and dedicated to world peace, the Great Stupa was inaugurated.
Trinzin, head of Sakyapa order of Buddhism said ,“It was built to minimise earthquake destruction in Taiwan but also help to bring peace.
It was built near the Mindroling monastery and was blessed by His Holiness Dalai Lama in 2005,” said Sakya Trinzin, head of Sakyapa order of Buddhism."
